My partner, Jon, works in Emergency Management. When we became engaged, though I eschewed "ice" on my finger as inappropriate at our stage in life, I DID get "ICE" in my Blackberry: Jon's contact information set up as my "in case of emergency" designation.
Later, for the convenience of having all my work e-mails forwarded to my handheld, I allowed hospital IS to download their protocols to my Berry. This compromise brought with it myriad frustrations, the most annoying of which is having to re-enter my password every 5 minutes or so. This protects data on servers to which I have no access anyway. Ah well.
It wasn't until we were discussing ICE in class last week that I realized the password business is not only annoying, it effectively neutralizes my emergency contact info! So now, I am looking for a semi-inconspicuous way to inscribe my password on the outside of my Berry's black leather case. Not as easy as a post-it note under the keyboard.
Any ideas?

Manon,
Don't inscribe your password on your Blackberry just yet! I don't really have a solution, but take into account all the different passwords we need to remember and then how often we are forced to change them, and the problem gets many times worse.
One system I log into requires
3 out of 4 of the following:
1) lowercase,
2) uppercase,
3) number
4) an oddball selection of punctuation.
Whew!
Sal
Sal,
I have been blogging remiss.
This is really funny. I LOST my Berry. Insured, so I wasn't too upset (except for the address book).
The new one was taken over by "The Enterprise" as well, but the new model has an identity function. On setup, you're prompted to enter your name etc. Now "The Enterprise" didn't want to allow that, too much risk to security if people even know WHOSE lost Berry it is. So they blocked it.
However, right below the identity field there is a "comments" field.
Somehow, they forgot to block it.
So, against my specially uploaded white background my Berry now announces my ICE password.
Remember, there is nothing confidential on my Berry and I have no access to corporate data. I just got caught up in "the rules."
Manon
